Kelowna, BC – April 22, 2024 – Troika Management Corp. celebrated a significant victory at today’s Kelowna City Council meeting, where its latest purpose-built rental project, 1110 Lawson, received unanimous approval during the fourth and final reading for the adoption of rezoning bylaw and approval of the Development Permit. This decisive action paves the way for transforming five single-family lots into a community-centric rental development, in line with the city’s 2040 vision.
“We are thrilled with the council’s unanimous decision in this final reading, which underscores a shared commitment to sustainable development and addressing Kelowna’s rental housing needs,” stated Renee Merrifield, Co-CEO of Troika. “This project is set to provide desirable housing options while enhancing the neighborhood’s appeal.”
Situated strategically along Gordon Drive and Lawson Avenue, the development will introduce 130 new homes, including studio apartments and walk-out townhouses, housed within a six-story wood frame building. This development is designed to blend harmoniously with Kelowna’s urban landscape and contribute to the city’s rental market.
“Our design, developed in collaboration with the City of Kelowna, reflects a balance of increased density with respect for the existing neighborhood. It includes thoughtful amenities and green spaces that cater to the well-being of our future residents,” added Merrifield.
Among the highlighted amenities at 1110 Lawson are multi-use green spaces, rooftop patio fostering social connection, a co-working space to support modern work lifestyles, a fitness centre, and a car-share program aimed at enhancing urban mobility and reducing carbon footprints.
This approval marks a critical milestone for Troika, allowing it to proceed with a project that exemplifies its dedication to innovative, responsible urban development.
